A LUV STORY WRITTEN IN THE STARS

Luv Stories of Maui Marital Bliss

Ordinary people just like you that that found true Love and

got Maui’d on the island that is dear to them.

Dawn and Tyler grew up 2 miles apart in Seattle, WA,

but didn’t know of each other’s existence until they attended Seattle Lutheran High School

with Dawn graduating in 2000 and Tyler in 2001.

They knew of each other during those years but didn’t really hang out during high school.

Dawn was a volleyball player and earning those good grades while Tyler was busy swimming year-round,

playing in a rock band and (generally) being a wild child.

Dawn decided to continue her education at Western Washington University and

Tyler enlisted in the Marine Corps immediately after Sept 11 2001.

It was written in the stars, but not meant to be …

just yet.

In 2010, Dawn and Tyler friended each other on Facebook

(after Tyler was stalking Facebook like a hungry jungle predator)

and kept loose contact.

Dawn was living in South Korea working as an English teacher.

Tyler, now post Marine Corps and infatuated with MMA on a return trip from Thailand,

found out that he was “supposed to have a 12 hours layover in Seoul.

Opportunity strikes!

Dawn received a message asking for her time and company.

Unknowingly, she offered to show him around until she had to go to work.

They met up, went for a sightseeing run along the Han River, and lunch.

They only had a short time, but an impression had been made.

Dawn promised that she’d let Tyler know when she got back to the US.

The next summer, Dawn came back to Seattle and they started seeing each other.

They hit it off almost immediately with their first kiss being in front of a pet-co

only 2 blocks away from their high school

(neither of them saw that as a foreshadow of what would be to come).

They both had different athletics.

Tyler was actively competing as a fighter and Dawn was training for a marathon.

The common ground they both shared was the comfort in each other during recovery.

Eventually the cozy life took its toll and the bond had been made.

Two rescue dogs, Beta and Jinx had been adopted.

At home, wine, dogs and binge watching sci-fi while enjoying each other’s company changed from

the exception to the norm.

Eventually, Dawn half moved in to the bachelor pad where Tyler was living

with his brother and high school best friend Devan.

Dawn, claiming her space, first took possession of a drawer, then a few drawers.

Eventually the other boys moved out and Dawn and Tyler had the place to themselves,

with Beta and Jinx-y-dogs of course.

Tyler and Dawn continue to spoil the shit out of them.

The next few years, Tyler and Dawn went through a few jobs each,

the pack went through a few surgeries (humans and canines),

and after a Disneyland Engagement,

everybody eventually made their way to Arizona for work!

Life is simple but happy now and they both wish it to remain so for the rest of days to come.

A LUV STORY BLESSING…WRITTEN IN THE STARS.

How poetic that after growing up so close, but yet so far…

Then a lifetime goes by…

Only to reconnect briefly in a place far, far away.

Then sealing the ‘Deal’ sealed with a kiss,

blocks away from your high school.

The Journey of Life comes full circle…

I was on the swim team, Dad taught me to box and

I played in a rock band too

Lucky for me there was just enough peace in the world for me to slip away to college…

And lucky for the rest of us that there are those like Tyler brave enough to stand up for our freedom and accepting way of life.

If it were not for the determination to stand strong,

We could not continue to be a free nation that encourages

peace and good will to all.

As a nation – We walk softly and carry a big stick

As time goes on…

Our Stick seems to need be bigger & bigger

Along with our collective compassion.

I had a good friend, a marine right next door in LA.

He was always fully prepared to take care of business,

In the event of trouble.

There were heaps of gangs in LA,

You could hear gun shots during most weekends …

It was good to know that if the proverbial poop should hit the fan,

I’ll I had to do is duck and cover,

My marine bud would be there to ‘take care of business’

It’s good to have a marine near by!

Lots of synchronicities with all of us here for this celebration of love….

Interesting how ‘the pack’ all ended up in Arizona…

My son just started college in Flagstaff…

Arizona seems like a place where yesterday’s dreams are fulfilled…

And tomorrow’s dreams are born.

You have achieved a simple but happy groove…

This is also the goal of most spiritual practices…

To simplify one’s life.

A simpler life allows us to ‘Be’ more fully in the moment.

To ‘Be Here Now’…

to Be fully present in the moment.

Not pining about the past or fretting about the future…

Abiding in a contentedness

that is unaffected by materialist or conceptual distractions…

Like, it’s easy to say,

“I love you rain or shine”…

It’s tested by complications, like…

Maintaining your Joy, Love, Compassion and Equanimity…

Even if it’s raining on trash nite.

In your Life’s Path,

You have experienced enough ‘life’, to gain certain Wisdoms.

That allow you now to fully appreciate

Being here now…

With someone that’s so fun to ‘recover’ from life with.

Your wish is for life to remain simple and happy

for the rest of days to come.

This is fulfilled by

Simply Enjoying the ‘Ever Present Moment’… as you do

Eternal Marital Bliss is

Always Already Alright in the Heart and Souls of Soulmates

The Start of 2020

Our business was doing great, but we still couldn’t afford to buy a house or a condo. Renting in Maui for another 30 years was not an option we wanted to take. Then, Bobbie Jo suggested we buy a sailboat that is comfortable to cruise and live in. By the end of January, we started looking for our new home.

After a long search, we found our dream boat in Mazatlan, Mexico. COVID-19 was not yet a concern when our boat hunt began, but masks were starting to appear at airports by the time we flew to Mazatlan. Originally, we had planned to get the boat ready as fast as possible to cover a full calendar for the busy wedding season. However, it was apparent our business was going to tank amid the pandemic, and the struggle went on until the end of the year.

Luckily, we scored an awesome condo for only $19 a day at Mazatlan. On the 10th day of our stay, we received the news that all harbors will be closed the next Monday morning. We thought we’d be stuck in Mexico longer, but another sailor advised us to leave before sunrise.

We felt the adrenalin of escaping the Mexican harbor master just before the sun rose that faithful day. The seas were rough as waves were building up in the tight channel that led us to the open ocean. We ended up anchored off an adorable little isle just a mile offshore. We enjoyed cruising to many spectacular anchorages and cute villages on our way to Puerto Vallarta, where we would depart for Maui on May 7. On May 30, 2020, we completed our 24-day passage from Mexico to Maui.
