A Luv Story Born with a New Roommate

It all started when Kayley’s roommate (and Helen’s best friend/classmate)
just so happened to swap living arrangements for a couple of months
with another sleep deprived/overworked Physician assistant student
in hopes of a shorter commute to clinical rotations.
Kayley couldn’t even eat her cereal like a normal human being
the first morning she met Helen in the kitchen.

While we were going through rough times in our lives,
both of us were intrigued at the possibility of
getting to know each other better as friends in the future
from our short impressions while living together.

Unfortunately Kayley had to deploy for a bit overseas.
Upon her return,
we were able to start spending time together involving
late nights on the couch in deep discussion, pit stops at farmer roadside stands,
or rooftop dinner/drinks.

Two weeks into dating, Helen took her end of school
and first international trip to Portugal and Spain.

By this point, Kayley was clearly smitten and after finding a way to get her passport expedited in a matter of days- she took planes, trains, Uber’s, and sprinted multiple times in order to make it there with Helen.

The travel only made us grow fonder of each other as we quickly realized what a great team we made in logistics and life thanks to our shared values and differing skill sets. While time traveling as a group was certainly fun, both of us had a moment where we realized that we loved each other when we were able to steal some time alone to explore a castle in Sintra on the top of a cliff.

But it wasn’t just romance…
we made it through Helen finishing PA school, career changes, extended unemployment,
18-hour shifts, dual last minute cross country moves, long distance, etc
and realized we could make it through anything together.
We both value loyalty, independence, determination, and communication.

In the future we hope to continue to adventure around the world together
as much as possible and just enjoy life.
Helen will continue to hone her surgical skills to enable work in developing country medical centers as Kayley will continue the long path through flight training in order to assist through flight benefits.
Whether future deployments (now that Helen was also just accepted into the Army as a Lieutenant) or just dealing with a tough day at work,
we’re looking forward to continuing our life together
to help guide and support each other.

A Luv Story Blessing Born with a New Roommate

Wow, living together turned out to be a great way for
True Love to manifest.
I hope the future Physician assistant work can be arranged
Without the traditional sleep deprived & overworked efforts :-O…

Distance makes the heart grow fonder…
when Kayley had to deploy overseas & yonder… then,
Two weeks later when Helen had to make a long trip,
Kayley was clearly smitten and after finding a way
to get her passport expedited in a matter of days…
she took planes, trains, Uber’s, and
Sprinted multiple times in order to make it there with Helen.
A True-Life scene from a romantic Hollywood movie 😉

As we evolve along with humanity,
There is infinite potential.
Those that pursue their Higher Calling with the Right Effort,
Will transcend the ever-increasing complexities
that a more inclusive world view will require…

For Helen,
Life’s challenges didn’t end with the final exams after PA school graduation.
Career changes, not enough work & way too much work…
Well…
Sharpen your scalpel and enjoy the ‘cutting edge’ of serving others,
In the skills only acquired by relentless ‘Right Effort’.

For Lieutenant Kayley,
May your flight training fulfill your Being,
And take you both to places beyond your most pleasant dreams.
May Peace and Love continue to spread throughout the world
so that all deployments are peaceful & harmonious.
Be that beacon of harmonious inspiration wherever you go.
Your unconditional expression of Love will help transform the world
into a more integrated collective of brighter minds,
With more compassionate hearts and self-less ambitions.

Rest in the cradle of each other’s hearts – knowing that,
You Got This!

There is a special connection that two true loves intrinsically experience.
Whether together, wrapped in a physical & formless embrace
Or
1000’s of miles apart where ‘life’ takes you…
Just close your eyes, open your heart & soul and soon…
You will lose the sense of where ‘you’ end …
and your True Love begins.

May this non-dual perspective of Love continue to expand
in ever increasing circles of embrace…
towards a time when everyone ‘Gets This’

Your example of unconditional love is making the world a better place
One smile at a time

The Start of 2020

Our business was doing great, but we still couldn’t afford to buy a house or a condo. Renting in Maui for another 30 years was not an option we wanted to take. Then, Bobbie Jo suggested we buy a sailboat that is comfortable to cruise and live in. By the end of January, we started looking for our new home.

After a long search, we found our dream boat in Mazatlan, Mexico. COVID-19 was not yet a concern when our boat hunt began, but masks were starting to appear at airports by the time we flew to Mazatlan. Originally, we had planned to get the boat ready as fast as possible to cover a full calendar for the busy wedding season. However, it was apparent our business was going to tank amid the pandemic, and the struggle went on until the end of the year.

Luckily, we scored an awesome condo for only $19 a day at Mazatlan. On the 10th day of our stay, we received the news that all harbors will be closed the next Monday morning. We thought we’d be stuck in Mexico longer, but another sailor advised us to leave before sunrise.

We felt the adrenalin of escaping the Mexican harbor master just before the sun rose that faithful day. The seas were rough as waves were building up in the tight channel that led us to the open ocean. We ended up anchored off an adorable little isle just a mile offshore. We enjoyed cruising to many spectacular anchorages and cute villages on our way to Puerto Vallarta, where we would depart for Maui on May 7. On May 30, 2020, we completed our 24-day passage from Mexico to Maui.
