A Luv Story Born at a Starbucks in the Ghetto

Logan and I met online,

we talked for like a week and then decided to meet up.

He had been working all day and I just got done training at a potential job

when I asked him if he wanted to hang out.

We ended up meeting at a Starbucks in the ghetto.

We sat outside and talked and laughed for a bit.

Then we walked to Burger King to get ice cream cones.

I impressively (in my opinion) finished the ice cream cone in about 10 seconds

and the rest was history.

Though he says that my humor and simplicity attracted me to him,

and his goofiness and strength attracted him to me,

there was something from the start that words couldn’t explain.

Something that I’d never felt with anyone before and I ran with it.

The biggest challenges probably happened when we moved in together

and were learning to live together.

After every fight, when things cooled down,

we would try to learn from it and come up with a better solution for next time

which essentially made our relationship stronger.

A Luv Story Blessing Born at a Starbucks in the Ghetto

Meeting online is a very sensible way towards

finding the Love that calls to your Being.

After a week of talking… your Being expresses

the first hints of the Bliss that is to come.

Perhaps there was a love charm in that first coffee at the ghetto Starbucks.

Or maybe it was in the Burger King Ice cream…

Calyssa’s heart was so on fire,

she consumed her ice cream in a sizzling 10 seconds

… and the rest was destiny playing out…

As it was meant to be.

Logan was attracted by Calyssa’s simplicity and humor…

Indeed, those are both a sanctuary for the soul

and humor is life’s best medicine.

Calyssa was attracted to Logan’s Goofy-ness and Strength.

It takes the strength of a tough guy,

to show one’s humble lightheartedness of character.

Most everyone can put on a good game face for a few dates…

But once ya move in together, ya really put da toes to the fire.

No one learns anything until completely challenged, confused and …

Overcome with how to react and then what to do,

until the inspiration comes along to learn what to do.

Often,

our egos keep this inspiration under its heel of repression.

Follow this subtle inspiration to profound places!

A Wisdom is born from the experiences of hard knocks.

Soon a ‘knowing’ becomes intrinsically – the Nature of your Being,

And then, with no thought or effort,

The Radiance of Spontaneous Unconditional

Love, Joy, Compassion and Equanimity

Becomes… Preeminent.

Keep expanding this radiance to ever-increasing circles of embrace.

Always humble thy ego

to allow the bridge to forgiveness and Transcendence to always be open.

Always act from kindness, intrinsically and spontaneously.

Do this for each other, and for everyone.

Realize that your True Nature of Being… is Bliss.

When you feel your Bliss being harshed by anger, fear, loathing, jealousy,

Or any other materialistic diversion…

Be Aware that it is so…

Then you will know where the focus of your ‘Life’s Path’ needs to be.

Always be open to your Path and your Journey…

Reflect within

to what the meaning of ‘Christ consciousness’ means to you,

And forever find ways to expand your expression of this inseparable connection

with all God’s children and all of Creation.

Experience the perfection of God’s Creation in all that ‘Is’

Do this in the ever-present moment of Now

and together, and you will both abide in Eternal Marital Bliss

The Start of 2020

Our business was doing great, but we still couldn’t afford to buy a house or a condo. Renting in Maui for another 30 years was not an option we wanted to take. Then, Bobbie Jo suggested we buy a sailboat that is comfortable to cruise and live in. By the end of January, we started looking for our new home.

After a long search, we found our dream boat in Mazatlan, Mexico. COVID-19 was not yet a concern when our boat hunt began, but masks were starting to appear at airports by the time we flew to Mazatlan. Originally, we had planned to get the boat ready as fast as possible to cover a full calendar for the busy wedding season. However, it was apparent our business was going to tank amid the pandemic, and the struggle went on until the end of the year.

Luckily, we scored an awesome condo for only $19 a day at Mazatlan. On the 10th day of our stay, we received the news that all harbors will be closed the next Monday morning. We thought we’d be stuck in Mexico longer, but another sailor advised us to leave before sunrise.

We felt the adrenalin of escaping the Mexican harbor master just before the sun rose that faithful day. The seas were rough as waves were building up in the tight channel that led us to the open ocean. We ended up anchored off an adorable little isle just a mile offshore. We enjoyed cruising to many spectacular anchorages and cute villages on our way to Puerto Vallarta, where we would depart for Maui on May 7. On May 30, 2020, we completed our 24-day passage from Mexico to Maui.
