A Luv Story Born at Denny’s

We met 20 years ago… he was so beautiful.

We had mutual friends and we all hung out at Denny’s.

Not together… but it was a “place” to go.

Turns out he would wait around to tell my friends he’d take me home.

I didn’t drive.

He’d call some nights and I’d sneak out to listen to music with him

across the street from my house.

He’d grab cassettes pilled on the passenger floor one after one.

He remembered me so much more particularly than I of him.

He was something and I was gone so soon. Our time was fleeting.

I moved away a year later.

He came to my going away party

and I took a Polaroid of him with his best friend still to this day.

I’ve kept that picture for all these years.

Based every boy on him.

He made a life for himself as did I, but we kept in touch,

again fleetingly. He made a family and I kept moving.

My fellow of 10’ years left and his ‘gal of 10 years also left…

But thanks to Facebook, he messaged Me.

A huge holy crap moment for me.

Flew me out to Idaho from Florida

and the last day of my only 4 day stay

he asked me to move.

He had 2 amazing kids and I asked them if it was ok

and got yeses and I packed what I could and moved out to Idaho.

Wallace is a historic city and I’m now the only barber for 15 miles,

and we are recently about to start a business together,

A family trade he is being passed down and my barber shop.

This is my first marriage at almost 40 and

with the man I’ve had a crush on for 20 years.

Magical doesn’t even begin to describe my current existence.

I musta done something right because

I’ve been a sad and angry person for a long time

and now all I do is laugh because of this man and his wonderful children.

You just never know that

your wishes on stars can actually come true.

A Luv Story Blessing – Born at Denny’s

Even the names sound like they were meant to be together…

Like a hit music act! You’re makin’ music together to the resonance of Love

Creating the soundtrack to Eternal Maui Marital Bliss every day.

Everything that has happened… Had to.

And nothing in the universe can ever go back and change the past,

Life has a very ‘cause & effect’ way, kind of like ‘karma’.

Life’s lessons come from the strangest places and most unsuspecting times.

Sometimes in life,

ya have to know anger to know peace,

Ya have to know sadness to know joy… and sometimes

being without a fulfilling Love in your life

is what it takes to finally know Love.

Most Wisdoms we gain seem to come from the school of hard knocks…

And like the phoenix that is reborn from the ashes of disasters,

A colorful spirit arises and sees fresh beauty in everything that ‘Is’.

Suzi mentions in the Luv story, that

“I must have done something right”

To find a true love that feels like home in the heart.

Perhaps the ‘cause & effect’ of life’s karma is responding… and,

It’s always nice the thank one’s lucky stars… But

the ineffable mysteries of the universe are beyond any meanings our

mere mortal mental meanderings may motivate… :-O

~ It’s as simple as this ~

The Natural State of our Being is Love.

When there is love there is contentedness.

This contentedness feels like Bliss.

Bliss is the essence of our True Being.

…then “Life” happens…

We need love like we need to breath,

Like a plant that needs sunshine.

When love is lost in the quagmire of life’s shadow issues,

It’s hard not to feel sadness and anger.

Yet,

when the light of True Love illuminates one’s Heart & Soul…

A fresh perspective is experienced in every-thing that ‘Is’.

It is always seeing the silver lining on dark cloudy issues…

But, now …

There aren’t any dark clouds or issues that can affect

your experience of true love.

Love is an experience; it has no substance.

It’s not something that can be affected by materialistic distractions

outside the bubble of love.

Your love for each other is completely unaffected if

the boss is cranky, the neighbor is finicky, your team loses, the car gets a ding…

or worse.

True love is there on rainy days just like on sunny day,

and on good days just like on bad days… Yet,

with True Love…

There are no bad days anymore,

somedays might include sad or unfortunate stories

but,

True Love sees past the stories and does not go along for the

up & down emotional roller coaster ride.

From the perspective of True Love, one can experience

the perfection in every-thing that ‘Is’.

Maintain an Awareness of contentedness in the ever-present moment…

Do this together and you will both experience Eternal Maui Marital Bliss.

If you wish upon a star…

You set in motion a cause and affect ripple in timeless wonder of Universe…

With patience and equanimity… You will find,

Your wishes really can come true!

By being in Love with everything that ‘Is’, you will realize

Everything is

Always Already Alright!

The Start of 2020

Our business was doing great, but we still couldn’t afford to buy a house or a condo. Renting in Maui for another 30 years was not an option we wanted to take. Then, Bobbie Jo suggested we buy a sailboat that is comfortable to cruise and live in. By the end of January, we started looking for our new home.

After a long search, we found our dream boat in Mazatlan, Mexico. COVID-19 was not yet a concern when our boat hunt began, but masks were starting to appear at airports by the time we flew to Mazatlan. Originally, we had planned to get the boat ready as fast as possible to cover a full calendar for the busy wedding season. However, it was apparent our business was going to tank amid the pandemic, and the struggle went on until the end of the year.

Luckily, we scored an awesome condo for only $19 a day at Mazatlan. On the 10th day of our stay, we received the news that all harbors will be closed the next Monday morning. We thought we’d be stuck in Mexico longer, but another sailor advised us to leave before sunrise.

We felt the adrenalin of escaping the Mexican harbor master just before the sun rose that faithful day. The seas were rough as waves were building up in the tight channel that led us to the open ocean. We ended up anchored off an adorable little isle just a mile offshore. We enjoyed cruising to many spectacular anchorages and cute villages on our way to Puerto Vallarta, where we would depart for Maui on May 7. On May 30, 2020, we completed our 24-day passage from Mexico to Maui.
