Shane is a General Superintendent for a large construction company.
They build bridges and freeways.
Terri is a homemaker and part time caregiver for her father.
Shane and I met when our boys were racing Remote Control cars.
For several years we were friends/parents at the track.
(We were nearing our 50’s and had both been in 20+ year marriages).
We talked a lot about our past lives.
His son stopped racing, so we didn’t see each other for a couple years
but occasionally talked on the phone.
One day Shane called and said he would be in the area in a few days
and was wondering if I wanted to meet for dinner.
I first thought this was just meant as friends …
but when I hung up the phone,

I knew that he meant it as a date and kind of panicked,
thinking oh my gosh date Shane Hunter??!!
Our first date was perfect.

We learned how much we had in common and how alike we were.
We went out the following night and again the next night.
By that third date we were planning our whole future together!
We realized this was a bit crazy, so
we didn’t let anyone know for a long time.

Every year we replayed our first date and on our third year,
Shane proposed.
We weren’t in a hurry to get married
and really didn’t know what we wanted to do for a wedding,
so time went on.
Then,
just after year four, Shane was in a horrible work accident.
An 1800 pound slab of concrete was hurled toward him
from the building site.
He almost got out of the way in time, but
the large piece caught him slightly in the chest, knocking him to the ground
and landing on his left foot crushing it severely.
He had surgery in an attempt to save his foot but ultimately
had it amputated 3 weeks later.
Definitely a life changing event.
We thought we had a solid relationship
and our love was as strong as possible,
but it grew even deeper and, in a way, that words cannot describe.
We were just thankful for life!
From day one of the accident
Shane has had a more positive attitude than could ever be expected.
He wanted to get back to work as soon as possible.
I actually drove him to some of his job sites
while he was bandaged up- he’s a true workaholic -LOL.
In four months’ time we went from wheelchair to crutches
to walker to scooter and finally his first prosthetic foot!
We cried the day he took his first step.
The last year he has had improved prosthetics
and we feel we are now living our new normal.

The accident was a year and a half ago
and here we are 6 1/2 years later in our relationship.
Our first date was November 19th, 2011.
We got engaged November 19th, 2014.
May 19th is the exact 6/12-year mark!

We love to spend time with family, friends, and neighbors.
We enjoy camping, mostly mountain and desert,
where we ride in our off -road vehicle.
We love to relax at home with our two little puppy dogs.
We also like to get away for quick weekends
and even take an unplanned road trip with no clear destination in mind.
Shane works hard and long and we look forward to slowing down
and eventually retiring!
Further in the future…

we love the idea of grandchildren.

A LUV STORY BLESSING – BORN FROM THEIR KID’S RACING CARS
Wise Enlightened Sages state that:
Everything that has happened… Had to.
So,
in this one life it would seem like
‘past lives’ are re-born into the Love of Soulmates…
All thanks to your kids and remote racing cars

Time goes on, kids grow out of remote cars and into real cars…
There must have been an endearing impression
that kept a fire lingering for those couple of years that went by…
You already had a lot in common
with the common meetings at the remote car track…
and after that perfect 1st date,
learning of so many other things that you both had in common,
by the 3rd date the future was presenting itself to your hearts and souls.

Shane had a situation that positively changed his outlook…
Coming that close to the end of life,
one tends to get a whole new outlook on life.
Suddenly one is Blessed with the appreciation of
the ever-present moment,
And the beauty of the simple things
that bring a gratitude for all things…
Just taking a refreshing breath fills the soul
with unbounded gratitude for life.

As tragic as it manifested,
it is even more tragic for most others
that are not Blessed with a zest and appreciation for life.
Again…
Everything that has happened… Had to.
If it were some sort of karmic test…
then you indeed passed it …
Divinely.

Shane’s work seems like it fulfills his being…
Building bridges and freeways…
There will come a time when you both can take one of those
bridges and freeways towards a golden retirement
exploring more deeply those far and remote campsites
that only your special off-road vehicle can reach.
Perhaps you’ll both be again at a remote car racing park together
showing your grandkids how they did it in the old days
