It was late into the evening when my friends told me
I had to hold on because Jamie was turning up to have dessert with us.
We were celebrating my birthday,
and it had been a long day already, and
I had to get up early on Sunday to meet a contractor
I was flying in from New Mexico.
I checked my watch, 9PM.
I decided that whoever this chap was,
if they weren’t here by 9:15, I was going to leave.
Kate was busy looking at her phone, Julian went off for a pee,
I looked around the restaurant rather aimlessly.
Then something caught my eye.
This tall red coat in heels had walked down the length of the bar,
turned around, head held high, chin nice and pointy,
and walked off again, this momentary delight
soon returned to boredom waiting for Jamie.
Kate looked up from her phone, announcing that
“she says she can’t find us” …
SHE? Jamie’s not a boy I thought. Oh …
perhaps my luck has changed?
Kate got up and hollered down the bar,
returning with afore mentioned red coat –
my smile was immediate as she sat down next to me.
We got to talking… actually, that’s not true.
I just sat there, deer in the headlights.
Finally,
Julian came back,
noticed the brain freeze and proceeded to continue a conversation
we had been having at dinner
“So Jaime, what’s your favorite TV show” –
and we were off to the races!
The more we talked the more we found we had things in common;
kids, camping, Battle Star Galactica, and as the minutes flitted by,
one more thing became apparent –
we had ourselves in common.

We have done so much together, grown, learnt, laughed, got frustrated and annoyed,
and still come back to being very much in love with each other.
From the moment we met,
it felt comfortable,
like this was just how it was supposed to be…
forever.
We are still learning and growing as a family,
watching Oscar head off to New York for university,
and Roan and Alden progressing through primary schools,
all three of them learning to be themselves,
and follow their own paths.
It will be fun to watch the family continue to grow as Jaime learns French,
and learns to cook and do yoga, and
Felix learns to turn his head off and chill out!
I’m so happy to marry the woman I love in such an amazing special place,
and it was very important to us both to have our kids here with us
for this amazing day.
We feel so lucky!
(And we miss Colette, but not the cats as much)
Jaime:
We met in through friends who had invited us both out to dinner,
and we didn’t know the other would be there
(it was a secret set up!)
anyway I got there very late because I was helping my family,
and was looking around the restaurant for my friends,
and I saw this very handsome man smiling at me from a table.
I actually smiled back at him as he had this huge lovely smile.
Well I couldn’t find my friends,
so I went over to the hallway and called my friend.
She came and got me,
and she took me back to the table and I sat right down next to
the very same handsome man who had been smiling at me!
My friends were seated with their backs to me, so I didn’t see them when I looked.
Anyway,
I sat down, and we were introduced,
and we found that we had so much in common.

Most importantly that we were both parents,
which was a really big wonderful deal for us.
Also,
we were both watching this sci fi show at the time called Battlestar Galactica
and talked a lot about that and all kinds of other things;
camping and travel etc.
We just had so much in common.
I remember thinking that Felix was so funny and kind, warm, and fun!
I also felt so comfortable with him right away like I had known him a long time.
We stayed up really late that first night talking and we even kissed.
Then it just went from there.
We both were very busy with a lot going on,
but we managed to find time to have dates.
I think we sort of knew pretty quickly that this was special.

We have had a very fun filled and at times challenging 9 years.
However,
no matter what we always come back to the fact that we love each other so much
and love spending our lives together.
I feel lucky every single day to have the amazing partner that I have in Felix.
He’s a wonderful man, a great partner,
a fun person to hang out with for Alden and Roan!
We love camping together and taking vacations and also love
going out to our little beach house with our family.
We love our pizza movie nights on Fridays and
neighborhood walks with our little dog Colette.
I’m so happy to marry the man I love in such an amazing special place,
and it was very important to us both to have our kids here with us
for this amazing day.
I feel so lucky and look forward to growing old with this man,
holding his hand, the whole way

A Luv Story Blessing Born on a Birthday – Jamie & Felix
Jamie says, she felt so comfortable with Felix right away
like she had known him a long time.
And perhaps it’s compelling to consider that as Soulmates…
It really feels like many lifetimes must have been shared
to create that comfortable feeling that this person’s heart
is the home your heart should abide in…
And so it is, with Divine Grace
that the un-distractible attraction of Soulmates
finds each other in a crowd, before they are introduced.
Felix spontaneously went into the ‘deer in the headlights’ mode…
A sure sign of Love at First Sight!

So Jamie is learning Yoga…
something we all need to do as we “gracefully age”…
I spent most of my life completely not getting the point of yoga…
Until I reached 50-something…
Now with one wrong move I’m liable to hurt myself…
I’ve got to do a few yoga stretches before I even tie my shoes
:-O
Sounds like Felix could use a wee bit Mindfulness Meditating…
This is where one abides in ‘no-thought’… ‘no Doing’… Just Being …
Of course,
the entire planet would be better off with a deep practice of Chilling out
😉
Maui’s is of course the best place to get “Maui’d”!
And it’s natural to miss the dog… ‘man’s best friend’…
But as much as I love my cats… I am just their staff…
a dog has a master… And misses him and the family
A cat is too aloof to even pretend to care
;-)…
but watch out!
A Dog might miss ya so much it’ll mess up the furniture…
The cat will get even by selling the furniture
:-O
Perhaps the dog will miss ya right away and mess up the furniture
Before the cats can sell it all before you get back home 😉

The best way anyone can hope to ‘age gracefully’
is hand in hand with their Soulmate.
When Soulmates gaze into each other’s eyes,
it’s like a lens into their Souls…
Souls are eternal,
and all one will ever see, no matter how old their bodies get…
Is the eternal youth of each other’s True Nature of Being.
