A Luv Story of Old Trucks, Fast Cars and Rock n Roll

Our Luv Story

We both live in the beautiful countryside of the Bayou state not far apart but did not know one another. I had a mailbox across the road in front of my house that had gotten knocked over and decided to not replace it but to get me a PO Box at the local post office. One day shortly thereafter, I met this gentleman that was easy to chat with and we talked for 20 to 30 minutes about common interest. After I left, I thought what a good conversation.

Much to my unknowing, I caught his eye. Rodney said he thought, “She is the kind of woman I want”! We did not know one another’s name, so he had to ask the Post Master to find mine out. He then started the task of finding out my phone number and giving me a call. We chatted a couple of hours this time and agreed on a date the next night.

When he arrived I was working on an old wore out electric heater (It was January) that should of been thrown away years before, but yes, I am sometimes a little bit too frugal. We laughed and he attempted the fix the heater and then we both agreed it should be discarded. Too late to go get a bit to eat, I offered him a grilled cheese and bowl of Ramen noodle soup. (one of my favorite cold night meals to this day). We ate and talked for a number of hours.

After he went home, I thought how nice he was and that I really enjoyed his company. My daughter told me he would never want to come back after he had to work on a heater and get noodles and sandwich. I reminded her that was me! The next morning, I sent a text telling him what a nice evening I had with him. He then asked to come back that night and I agreed with a snap.

Since that night we saw one another everyday he wasn’t gone off to work.  I was retired and he was semi-retired, we decided we did not like the days apart, so he completely retired and came home. We have not been apart since.

Rodney and I share a love for old trucks, fast cars and rock n roll. Each date, he would select a song to express his feelings for me. It was so special and still is since he plays songs to speak his thoughts and love for me. He truly is a rare find and I love him.

Our love is special to both of us. We know we are soul mates even though it took us many years to find one another and plan on being right by one another’s side forever and a day.

Rodney’s Vows:

I’ve always believed that someday

I would find my soul mate

And when I did, it would be amazing

And then I met you

And you know what?

Amazing doesn’t even

begin to describe what being

in love with you is like!

How special you are

how caring

how loving

Everything in Life means more to me because of you!

I love you today, tomorrow, and forever plus a day.

Marguerite’s Vows:

You are my man

I have completely fallen for you

Everything you do

Everything you say

Everything you are

In your heart I have found my Love

In your soul I have found my Mate

I want to do it all with you!

I want to share hot summer days and cold winter nights

I want to see hundreds of cities all around the world with us side by side

I want to memorize the shape of your hand and the way it feels in mine

I want to know the dreams in your heart and help you make them real

I want to live a thousand lives and spend them all loving you honey.

You are my Life

You are my inspiration

You are my strength

and my Soulmate

I love you

A Luv Story Blessing of Old Trucks, Fast Cars and Rock n Roll

There is a Sacred Synchronicity that Soulmates tend to tune into…

With millions of folks goin’ to the post office every day

What are the odds of finding True Love there.

One of the characteristics of a Saintly Enlightened person

Is their intrinsic nature to see the perfection in the moment.

When Marguerite’s mailbox got knocked over

it was like a sign from ‘The Great Mystery’

that soon manifested into an inseparable attraction of True Love.

Old trucks, fast cars and Rock n Roll…

In my youth it was old trucks that got us to our band’s Rock n Roll gigs…

And fast cars that got us into all kindz of fun trouble 😉

May Rock n Roll forever be the soundtrack of your Marital Bliss

Eternally cruisen’ with an old truck full of Luv

Or take a fast car into the fastrack of Love…

Forevermore… and a day!

The Start of 2020

Our business was doing great, but we still couldn’t afford to buy a house or a condo. Renting in Maui for another 30 years was not an option we wanted to take. Then, Bobbie Jo suggested we buy a sailboat that is comfortable to cruise and live in. By the end of January, we started looking for our new home.

After a long search, we found our dream boat in Mazatlan, Mexico. COVID-19 was not yet a concern when our boat hunt began, but masks were starting to appear at airports by the time we flew to Mazatlan. Originally, we had planned to get the boat ready as fast as possible to cover a full calendar for the busy wedding season. However, it was apparent our business was going to tank amid the pandemic, and the struggle went on until the end of the year.

Luckily, we scored an awesome condo for only $19 a day at Mazatlan. On the 10th day of our stay, we received the news that all harbors will be closed the next Monday morning. We thought we’d be stuck in Mexico longer, but another sailor advised us to leave before sunrise.

We felt the adrenalin of escaping the Mexican harbor master just before the sun rose that faithful day. The seas were rough as waves were building up in the tight channel that led us to the open ocean. We ended up anchored off an adorable little isle just a mile offshore. We enjoyed cruising to many spectacular anchorages and cute villages on our way to Puerto Vallarta, where we would depart for Maui on May 7. On May 30, 2020, we completed our 24-day passage from Mexico to Maui.
