By Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh

When you wake up in the morning,
you can choose how you want to start your day.
I recommend you start the day smiling.
Why smile?
Because you are alive and
you have twenty-four brand-new hours ahead of you.
The new day is a gift of life offered to you.
Celebrate it and vow to live it deeply.
Vow not to waste it.
Every day is filled with equally miraculous acts—
we walk, we breathe, we eat our breakfast and use the bathroom.
The art of living
is knowing how to generate happiness at any time.
No one else can create happiness for us;
we have to create it ourselves.
With mindfulness and gratitude we can be happy right away.

Zenfully Quool Quotes Quommentary – by rog

Setting our intensions ahead of time…
Is a remarkable tool towards starting the day off right.
Realize what you can do… and simply can’t do.
There are obligatory things we must do…
Cook, Eat, clean up, use the bathroom, buy supplies…
Get in some exercise, meditate, contemplate…
Take care of our income duties…
Then,
With the rest of our leisure time…
We’ll focus on saving the planet… or at least
Saving humanity from itself.
Ha!
That’s a big task.
Obviously we’ll only be able to bite off a small chunk at a time…
So we must be reasonable with our expectations…
And not get caught up in the hopelessness of our goal…
Know that the planet will be fine with or without humanity…
But,
Humanity seems hell bent on a self-defeating course towards oblivion.
It’s frustrating when you want to change the
self-defeating aspects humanity is mis-lead to go with…
Just know…
You can’t change the perspectives of everyone on the entire planet…
But,
You can change yours,
and that will be effective enough to allow you to effectively function
without being crippled with compassion.

Start your day with a smile…
And follow that smile all day.
Know that you can be happy…
Despite the senseless chaos all around us.

The Art of Living…
Is knowing how to abide in the blissful happiness that is found in
the ever-present moments of our life.
