Our Loved Ones Are Not “Lost”

If we have lost someone who is very close to us

and we are grieving,

the concentrations on emptiness and ‘signlessness’

help us look deeply and see the ways in which they still continue.

Our loved one is still alive within us and around us.

They are very real.

We have not lost them.

It is possible to still recognize them in a different form

or in even more beautiful forms than in the past.

rog notes:

My favorite contemporary philosopher Ken Wilber

whom is also a humble Enlightened Master,

and has endured the loss of his sweetheart when he was young…

The loss of a loved one,

even for an Enlightened being is never easy

in the conventional ‘here & now’ sense.

He spent many decades contemplating the

‘Timeless Wonder of it All’…

and wrote a book about it called:

“Grace and Grit”.

Ken elaborates on the non-dual perspective of

our ‘transcended’ loved ones:

Our loved ones are not “lost”…

They are forever with us in our memories and spirit.

The quality time spent together infuses into our ‘Being’

as if our very DNA has become in sync…

with what seems like our ‘soul mate’.

~

Understand that

In the very deep end of Spiritual philosophy,

Particularly the Buddha’s teachings of Anatta…

There are no enduring individual “souls” so to speak.

It’s even more ‘Divine’ than that,

in that…

Instead of being the mistaken identity of an individual…

Whom we are all born to believe is our ego-mind-body…

In our True sense, “we” were never born, nor will ever die,

“We” are

Always Already Alright,

and inseparable from all that is.

It is often referred to by many traditions,

that the essence of ‘God’…

Is all that

is.

Know that in the perspectives of non-dual unified consciousness,

our True Nature is Pure Awareness, or Pure Consciousness…

and it feels like

Love, Joy, Bliss, and Boundless Spaciousness…

There really is no ‘you’, ‘me’, ‘us’, or ‘we’…

It’s all just Unity.

“We” are inseparable from all that “Is”.

When one becomes Enlightened in this life,

the veils that once obstructed our perspective of this

non-dual Oneness is forever removed, and

one can live the rest of this life Liberated from the

pain and suffering caused by the ignorance and confusion

of mistaking our ‘selves’ as being our ego-mind-body.

Otherwise,

even without obtaining the full Fruition of Enlightenment,

When our body dies…

This veil is also dissolved…

And whoever ‘we’ thought ‘we’ were in our life…

Melts inseparably into what could be considered…

The ocean of consciousness…

At one with all that “Is”.

If you allow yourself to drift off in a

reverie of calm abidance…

With the sweet memories in your heart…

Take notice of the infinite beauty of nature…

Wherever you may be.

Know that your loved one is:

Part of the sparkle on a morning dew drop.

The beauty and scent of a fresh fragrant flower.

The warmth of the sun on your skin on a cool day.

The glow of the sunset after a rewarding day.

The fresh cool breeze after a hot day.

The connections with your loved ones are

as boundless as our True Nature.

The Start of 2020

Our business was doing great, but we still couldn’t afford to buy a house or a condo. Renting in Maui for another 30 years was not an option we wanted to take. Then, Bobbie Jo suggested we buy a sailboat that is comfortable to cruise and live in. By the end of January, we started looking for our new home.

After a long search, we found our dream boat in Mazatlan, Mexico. COVID-19 was not yet a concern when our boat hunt began, but masks were starting to appear at airports by the time we flew to Mazatlan. Originally, we had planned to get the boat ready as fast as possible to cover a full calendar for the busy wedding season. However, it was apparent our business was going to tank amid the pandemic, and the struggle went on until the end of the year.

Luckily, we scored an awesome condo for only $19 a day at Mazatlan. On the 10th day of our stay, we received the news that all harbors will be closed the next Monday morning. We thought we’d be stuck in Mexico longer, but another sailor advised us to leave before sunrise.

We felt the adrenalin of escaping the Mexican harbor master just before the sun rose that faithful day. The seas were rough as waves were building up in the tight channel that led us to the open ocean. We ended up anchored off an adorable little isle just a mile offshore. We enjoyed cruising to many spectacular anchorages and cute villages on our way to Puerto Vallarta, where we would depart for Maui on May 7. On May 30, 2020, we completed our 24-day passage from Mexico to Maui.
