THE CONTINUATION BODY

Zenfully Quool Quotes – Thich Nhat Hanh
SIXTH BODY: THE CONTINUATION BODY
Throughout our life we produce energy.
We say things and do things, and every thought, every word,
and every act carries our signature.
What we produce as thoughts, as speech, as action,
continues to influence the world,
and that is our continuation body.

Our actions carry us into the future.
We are like stars whose light energy continues to radiate
across the cosmos millions of years after they become extinct.

Thay is saying
the perspective of how a scientist would describe
how the energy our bodies radiates forever more.
Energy, they say, can’t be destroyed, it can only transform.

Even though in a ‘Spiritual perspective’…
Our True Nature is not our bodies, thoughts, actions, beliefs,
what makes us good or bad…
‘We’ are none of these….
Yet,
Those are the only attributes others can relate to.

Even if one never wrote or spoke of deep inspiring Wisdoms…
You would be remembered by how you carried yourself.

Were you quick to smile, frown, laugh or lash out? …
Kind or grumpy, selfless or selfish…

And these are what others, friends and family will
cherish or lament about for countless generations.

In this way, even though the body dies…
One’s legacy lives on.
Make it a good one.

The Buddha was not his body ether,
But his teachings are timeless.
Even though it took over 400 years before his spoken words
were transcribed into texts…
These texts have lived on ever since to inspire countless others
towards the Liberation of their inherent confusion,
pain and suffering.

The main reason I write so much is…
It helps me solidify my own perspectives.
I’m no Buddha…
but,
By the time I get to ‘move on’…
The depths of perception crafted from a lifetime of Practice
could be of some value to others that are still at
the cross roads of ‘the Path’ that I was
when I wrote some of my
‘Inspiring Spiritual Insights’.

This is just but one reason for me to continue to
‘deepen my perspectives’.

The closer towards the full fruition of ‘the Path’ one gets…
The more these ‘Inspiring Spiritual Insights’
will naturally radiate to others…
This cycle is a natural manifestation of ‘Divinity’.
Grace is the effortless flow that the Tao speaks of…

Allow this natural flow to carry you away from
the mundane chaos of life…
Towards the profound Awakening of Liberation.
The degree of Equanimity one maintains during
life’s random challenges
is the metric that reveals how far away we are.

This state of well being is in it’s self
all the reason one needs to say on …
‘the Path’.

The Start of 2020

Our business was doing great, but we still couldn’t afford to buy a house or a condo. Renting in Maui for another 30 years was not an option we wanted to take. Then, Bobbie Jo suggested we buy a sailboat that is comfortable to cruise and live in. By the end of January, we started looking for our new home.

After a long search, we found our dream boat in Mazatlan, Mexico. COVID-19 was not yet a concern when our boat hunt began, but masks were starting to appear at airports by the time we flew to Mazatlan. Originally, we had planned to get the boat ready as fast as possible to cover a full calendar for the busy wedding season. However, it was apparent our business was going to tank amid the pandemic, and the struggle went on until the end of the year.

Luckily, we scored an awesome condo for only $19 a day at Mazatlan. On the 10th day of our stay, we received the news that all harbors will be closed the next Monday morning. We thought we’d be stuck in Mexico longer, but another sailor advised us to leave before sunrise.

We felt the adrenalin of escaping the Mexican harbor master just before the sun rose that faithful day. The seas were rough as waves were building up in the tight channel that led us to the open ocean. We ended up anchored off an adorable little isle just a mile offshore. We enjoyed cruising to many spectacular anchorages and cute villages on our way to Puerto Vallarta, where we would depart for Maui on May 7. On May 30, 2020, we completed our 24-day passage from Mexico to Maui.
