Jr. High School Sweethearts – Luv Story of Eddie and Velerie Durant

We met as young teenagers living in Brooklyn New York,

I was 13 and Eddie was 15th.

he became my 1st boyfriend.

We became inseparable and fell in love at our young ages…

My family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina when I was 15

and that caused us to separate over time..

We always kept in touch and I would visit NY during summer

and would still see Eddie.

After I graduated from High School in 1985,

I eventually moved back to NY and we reconnected.

Our 1st born daughter (Dorqulia) was born in September 1987.

Eddie and I decided to relocate back to NC

and planned to get married asap.

And we did that…

On August 6, 1988 we had a small service at the local Courthouse

surrounded by family and friends and celebrated our union.

Our 2nd child, our son (Marquise) was born December 1990.

Our marriage has been very fulfilling…

we’ve basically grew up together side by side…

It hasn’t always been easy,

but our challenges been a blessing to us as we look at it now.

Some challenges we faced –

in our 18/19 year of marriage we decided to separate…

It was hard,

we remained friends and involved with each other.

After 2.5 years of separation we came back together

as husband and wife!!

Even stronger than the 1st time…

We grew and was on the same page again!

Eddie also overcame cancer 4 years ago.

He was Superman through the whole process

and stayed strong and encouraged never letting up…

HE IS MY ROCK!

We now have 5 grandkids…

I am Grand V and he is Paw Pa….

We love spending time with our grands and kids…

Love to travel wherever and whenever we could…

We enjoy the comforts of our home

also and doing projects and renovations that we want….

Eddie is an electrician and has been self-employed for 10+ years…

I work in Property Management currently

and looking forward to going in business with my daughter

in the near future.

Jr. High School Sweethearts –

Luv Story Blessing of Eddie and Velerie Durant

With True Love…

it feels like we must have been together for countless eons…

As…

Soulmates.

Soulmates develop an attraction over countless eons

or at least longer than we can imagine.

By definition,

ineffable concepts are those beyond the description of conceptual words

and certainly,

any idea of life before or after this one is for the most part…

Ineffable.

Scientist can’t prove it and religions can only give

vague archaic metaphoric projections…

Yet,

there is an undeniable attraction when one finds True Love.

There becomes a spontaneous feeling of attraction and love,

that just feels like home.

There is something in our Heart

that feels like we’ve been together before.

Some say that they don’t believe in coincidences…

There is a Divine Synchronicity in life

that seems to follow the Path of Grace.

So,

when youz guyz met in dat deerah Brooklyn Neew Yawk,

at such a young age…

It was much more than a coincidence.

Being your first True Love, (at least in this life;-)…

Two years is like a lifetime…

then to have the family move away…

Must have been one of them thar ‘ineffable’ challenges…

words are not enough to portray the heavy heart youz musta felt.

Life is perfect… yet

it doesn’t always seem that way.

When a challenge comes along, at first, it’s annoying,

then it seems like we don’t have what it takes to get through it.

But

when we push through it,

we open up a space within ourselves

that now hosts a completely new feeling about life.

We earn a new understanding of ourselves and our loved ones.

We gain a confidence that’s not based on pride and arrogance.

We learn by experience that it really is better to give than receive.

Transcendence leads us upward on an onward

towards our very own perfection.

When folks are faced with a life changing or life ending event like cancer…

Those so Blessed will see the special opportunity to see life in a whole new way.

They get the Divine opportunity to take a good look at themselves

and reflect upon how Blessed their life has been and then,

to contemplate what is important in the relatively short time we have left here.

Those that are so Blessed,

come away with a newfound appreciation for each new breath.

They can find peace, joy and contentment in the ever-present moment.

After facing the scariest challenge in life…

They now can enjoy the most sacred Grace life has to offer…

Therein lies the secret to Eternal Bliss…

And through it all,

you have come to renew your vows and enjoy

Eternal Maui Marital Bliss.

Through your lifelong story of love and life’s ups & downs…

You are now beginning a new chapter in your book of Love… Entitled…

Living Happily Ever After!

The Start of 2020

Our business was doing great, but we still couldn’t afford to buy a house or a condo. Renting in Maui for another 30 years was not an option we wanted to take. Then, Bobbie Jo suggested we buy a sailboat that is comfortable to cruise and live in. By the end of January, we started looking for our new home.

After a long search, we found our dream boat in Mazatlan, Mexico. COVID-19 was not yet a concern when our boat hunt began, but masks were starting to appear at airports by the time we flew to Mazatlan. Originally, we had planned to get the boat ready as fast as possible to cover a full calendar for the busy wedding season. However, it was apparent our business was going to tank amid the pandemic, and the struggle went on until the end of the year.

Luckily, we scored an awesome condo for only $19 a day at Mazatlan. On the 10th day of our stay, we received the news that all harbors will be closed the next Monday morning. We thought we’d be stuck in Mexico longer, but another sailor advised us to leave before sunrise.

We felt the adrenalin of escaping the Mexican harbor master just before the sun rose that faithful day. The seas were rough as waves were building up in the tight channel that led us to the open ocean. We ended up anchored off an adorable little isle just a mile offshore. We enjoyed cruising to many spectacular anchorages and cute villages on our way to Puerto Vallarta, where we would depart for Maui on May 7. On May 30, 2020, we completed our 24-day passage from Mexico to Maui.
