Our Bodies are Amazing! but “we” are not our bodies

Our bodies are an amazing evolution of ‘Transcend and including’

since the Big Bang 13.87 billion years ago…

~

There is a biologist named Lewis Thomas,

whose work I appreciate very much.

He describes how our human bodies are

“shared, rented, and occupied”

by countless other tiny organisms, without whom

we couldn’t “move a muscle, drum a finger, or think a thought.”

Our body is a community, and

the trillions of non – human cells in our body

are even more numerous than the human cells.

Without them,

we could not be here in this moment.

Without them,

we wouldn’t be able to think, to feel, or to speak.

There are, he says,

no solitary beings.

The whole planet is one giant, living, breathing cell,

with all its working parts linked in symbiosis.

Each part of us from the subatomic level up to our current rendition

is the result of small things transcending to larger more complex things…

Not by overpowering other elements…

but by including the core form but

transcending to higher orders of complexities…

Our egos emerged in our early development

to help us be aware of trouble, sense dangers…

to help us know when to fight or take flight…

We only knew of this one aspect of life…

affectionately referred to as FFF…

Fuck it, Fight it, or Feed on it.

This strategy was integral in our survival…

However,

These daze,

most of these traits tend to just cause us mental trouble

or worse when we get these objectives mixed up:-O

One evolved enough to hear the calling to pursue a ‘Spiritual Path’…

Will be inspired to find their ‘True Self’…

Through deep contemplation,

one will realize that ‘they’ are not their bodies,

which are born, struggle through life, get sick, old and die…

The eternal part …

the part that never was born, will never die and

is unaffected by the drama of our life’s story…

is what is pursued through this contemplation of our True Self.

The body is awesome,

a great vehicle of profound evolutionary aspects…

However…

“we” are much more than that.

Yet,

What exactly “we” are is ineffable…

Words can’t describe boundless nature of our True Being…

But,

These words point towards it…

Pure consciousness, Pure Awareness…

Until an aspirant emerges from the very deep end of

a spiritual practice and has experienced

the highest states of human consciousness…

These words will have no real meaning.

In order to become “Self-Realized”…

Part of the process is to fully understand our ego-mind-bodies…

Particularly the aspects of the ego.

For all the good the ego was to our early development,

It has also created the illusion of a ‘false self’.

Contemplate this:

When ever you have a thought…

The mind generates an “I” that seems to belong to that thought,

Like:
when there is hunger… there’s an imaginary “I” involved…

“I” am hungry,

“I” am mad,
“I” am this or that…

Who is this “I”?

Where is this “I” located?

This “I” can not be found…

Unless you mistake ‘YourSelf’ to be your ego-mind-body

like most of us do,

Everyone born is fooled by the ego

to make that mistaken identity as their True Self.

Even though everyone knows our bodies will die… and ultimately…

Our bodies are not our True Self.

When an aspirant completes the full spiritual path

to the final Fruition of the highest Wisdoms a human can learn…

This is called ‘Enlightenment’.

Sounds pretty fantastic…

However,

Mainly what happens is

your perspective changes from that of being an ego-mind-body…

To knowing that you are far more than that.

These Wisdoms liberate you from the inherent pain and suffering

caused by the ignorance and confusion of not knowing your real True Nature.

If you have managed to read all the way to this sentence…

Congratulations!

Significantly less than 1/10 of 1% of humanity has reached this perspective.

Significantly less than 10% can even comprehend the importance of this perspective.

To the average normal ‘sentient being’…

Why bother with all this spiritual mumbo jumbo…?

Consider this scenario,

If at a very young age, you were somehow separated from your parents,

by cause of war, kidnapping, natural disaster or what not…

Without knowing who or where your parents were,

You would go through your life without knowing who you really are.

Sure,

You could grow up to be a fine and fairly complete human,

But deep down within you…

You have questions about who you really are.

If some day you managed to find your long lost parents

or at least found out what happened and was able to identify your family tree…

Nothing in your life would really change…

Just your perspective of who you really are, as a human being.

A similar aspect of becoming Enlightened…

But on a much more profound level of understanding.

~

Be the Evolutionary…

Become ‘Self-Realized’!

This Awakening will bring a peaceful bliss beyond measure.

Namaste.

The Start of 2020

Our business was doing great, but we still couldn’t afford to buy a house or a condo. Renting in Maui for another 30 years was not an option we wanted to take. Then, Bobbie Jo suggested we buy a sailboat that is comfortable to cruise and live in. By the end of January, we started looking for our new home.

After a long search, we found our dream boat in Mazatlan, Mexico. COVID-19 was not yet a concern when our boat hunt began, but masks were starting to appear at airports by the time we flew to Mazatlan. Originally, we had planned to get the boat ready as fast as possible to cover a full calendar for the busy wedding season. However, it was apparent our business was going to tank amid the pandemic, and the struggle went on until the end of the year.

Luckily, we scored an awesome condo for only $19 a day at Mazatlan. On the 10th day of our stay, we received the news that all harbors will be closed the next Monday morning. We thought we’d be stuck in Mexico longer, but another sailor advised us to leave before sunrise.

We felt the adrenalin of escaping the Mexican harbor master just before the sun rose that faithful day. The seas were rough as waves were building up in the tight channel that led us to the open ocean. We ended up anchored off an adorable little isle just a mile offshore. We enjoyed cruising to many spectacular anchorages and cute villages on our way to Puerto Vallarta, where we would depart for Maui on May 7. On May 30, 2020, we completed our 24-day passage from Mexico to Maui.
