Rick & Lori  Luv Story

Ours wasn’t your typical Luv story.

I meet Rick at Heath’s house, who is now Heath & Michelle. When I look back, I think of how crazy that time was.  I was living at my Friend Angela’s house because my youngest son Steven lite his room on fire and it burned down part of the house. We can all laugh now because no one was hurt.  I met Heath and Mikey on New Year’s while we were all out celebrating the New Year of 1998! A week later I went to Heath’s house to invite him and Mickey over to my girls house to watch movies. While I was waiting for Heath, Rick walked in the door and we just looked at each other for a few minutes when I asked who he was.  When he said Rick, I said I just was over to invite Heath and Mickey to come over to my girls house to watch movies. We talked some more, and he then said that Angela didn’t like him so he would pass.  I said well Angela is not inviting you… I am.

He said yes and it has been unconditional love ever since.

We both came into this marriage broken from different marriages. I have 4 children, La’Nae, Bradley, Tison, Steven and 2 step children Tyler and Tabatha.  Rick has taken this readymade family and loved us all. In all its corkiness.   We have been through more than our share of what life can throw at a couple but our love has surpassed it all.

Rick is my Night in Shining Armor.  He has taught me what our first vows really meant, through thick or thin, until death do us part. He has taken this broken mess and loved it through the loss of 2 children and has been my strength in life. Fore without him I would be nothing.  I adore this man completely!

I was a mess writing this.  Although there is so much I can say, I just tried to keep its simple.  I never believed in soulmates or love at first sight, but I do believe in us.  His is my one and only, my beginning and my end.

Thank you for everything!

When we meet someone so special that we feel

‘they complete’ us…

It’s actually much deeper than that, as we are All

Always Already Alright and Complete…

However,

life has a way of throwing curve balls that rock us to the core.

Love truly conquers all challenges.

Love is what life is all about.

On this ‘earth plane’ of existence,

there is naturally many challenges we must face.

Sometimes the pain and suffering is unbearable,

but with the help of our Knight in Shining armor, our Rock,

the Wind beneath our Wings…

We find the courage and strength to carry on.

The strength of true love gets down into the core of our ‘Being’,

giving us what we often need in life, just to have a fighting chance…

Love offers us Hope and Faith.

Like a storm at sea on a sailboat,

when we are in the midst of the challenge of survival,

we can only hold on for dear life and focus on what must be done…

Often the thoughts of ‘why did I put myself into this mess’

go thru our stressed out and fearful minds…

But

when the sun comes out and the storm goes away,

the tranquil beauty of our life and everything around it melts away all the tears and fears…

As we sail into yet another Blessed chapter of Life.

The Start of 2020

Our business was doing great, but we still couldn’t afford to buy a house or a condo. Renting in Maui for another 30 years was not an option we wanted to take. Then, Bobbie Jo suggested we buy a sailboat that is comfortable to cruise and live in. By the end of January, we started looking for our new home.

After a long search, we found our dream boat in Mazatlan, Mexico. COVID-19 was not yet a concern when our boat hunt began, but masks were starting to appear at airports by the time we flew to Mazatlan. Originally, we had planned to get the boat ready as fast as possible to cover a full calendar for the busy wedding season. However, it was apparent our business was going to tank amid the pandemic, and the struggle went on until the end of the year.

Luckily, we scored an awesome condo for only $19 a day at Mazatlan. On the 10th day of our stay, we received the news that all harbors will be closed the next Monday morning. We thought we’d be stuck in Mexico longer, but another sailor advised us to leave before sunrise.

We felt the adrenalin of escaping the Mexican harbor master just before the sun rose that faithful day. The seas were rough as waves were building up in the tight channel that led us to the open ocean. We ended up anchored off an adorable little isle just a mile offshore. We enjoyed cruising to many spectacular anchorages and cute villages on our way to Puerto Vallarta, where we would depart for Maui on May 7. On May 30, 2020, we completed our 24-day passage from Mexico to Maui.
