Dwayne & Loretta Luv Story

Dwayne’s Luv Story –

We met February, 1985 at work. Both of us worked at an imitation crab meat factory. We became fast friends and spent a lot of time learning various things in the workplace and about life. We shared books, movies and a love of music. My heart jumped whenever she came near me. I enjoyed being around her and she laughed at my jokes. Over the years I would make special tapes for her to listen to of the songs we heard over the intercom at work and liked.

Over the years our friendship grew and turned into a love story and romance. We often exchanged love letters professing our love. We talked of our dreams and places we wanted to travel to. In April of 1992 I proposed, and we were married on August 1, 1992 at my family church of Eagle Rock United Church of Christ in Wendell, North Carolina. My family has attended that church since the early 1900’s. Loretta and I were the last couple to marry in that church before they relocated to a new Church that fall.

In 1994, less than 2 full years after we were married both of our companies went out of business. I was offered a job at a sister company in Fife, Washington. I took the job and we began another chapter of our life of living away from our family and friends. 23 years later we have made a wonderful life in Seattle. We have 2 children, Thometta and Stephon and 5 grandkids. We love to travel and consider Maui our favorite vacation spot. After 25 years she still has my heart. She brings a smile to my face just thinking of her. She is full of energy and has a zest for life. She loves life and her family. I look forward to the next 25 years and what life has to offered. We have been able to see most of our dreams come true and are in the process of dreaming bigger and better things.

Loretta’s Luv Story

It was February 1985, working at an imitation crab company. His face was bright and full of energy and mischievous. He brought with him fun and excitement doing spontaneous things at a moment’s notice.

We shared lunches together and made short trips after work. Enjoyed listening to music together, reading and sharing books we both read. Dwayne was there for me through some health issues in my life. He kept me focused on what was important in my life, my health and my daughter. My daughter seemed to fall in love with Dwayne before I even realized my feelings were changing for him.

Over the years my feelings developed from friendship for him to loving him. I loved being in his presences, having him around me and for him to share or teach me things. We moved in together for awhile since he stayed at my apartment more than his. And even though we had previous marriages that didn’t work out, and feeling that we didn’t want to marry again thinking that we may not have what it takes to make this relationship into a married one we went for it. We learned over the course of our relationship that communication is everything. Dwayne and I learned to share the good times along with the bad, and the disappointment in life with each other.

Our children loved us both, they along as siblings would. So there wasn’t a problem as we grew closer together and Dwayne’s family welcomed my daughter and me into their family with open arms. His church family did as well. My daughter became a niece to his siblings, a grand daughter to his parents and we became a member of his church family.

We finally tied the knot in August of 1992. I’ve loved him from that time until now unconditionally. Always wanting the best for him. He’s my best friend, the love of my life, my partner and the father of my children.
